February!

 

Oops - where does the time go?!! Slapped wrist for not keeping up with my blog but let's fill in what's happened since January....

I have managed to get a few things crossed off the list - my mum and sisters are very excited about the list and jumped on the 'girly weekend away' - we've decided to kill two birds with one stone and do a long weekend in Salzburg, Austria in December - which also ticks off the 'European Christmas Market' box too!! 

I have managed to read my first two books of the year! The January one was 'Tired and Tested' by Sophie McCartney who is an Insta blogger that I've followed since having the kids. She's hilarious and definitely my kind of Mum! It's a very tongue in cheek look at parenthood - super funny if you're a parent.

The February one was 'American Dirt' by Jeanine Cummins. It was recommended on Oprah's book club and there has been quite a bit of controversy surrounding the book. It's about a Mexican bookseller who is forced to flee as an illegal immigrant to the United States, along with her son, after her journalist husband exposes a local drug kingpin. However, the author is white and there have been a lot of social media arguments about the validity of the story as the author has no experience of the country or lifestyle. Taking that aside, it's a gripping story and I found it a good read.  

I'll put my March book in next month as I haven't finished it yet!!

Another box ticked when we went to visit our dear friends Leanne and Dean who we met on holiday last year. They have two gorgeous children who are the same age as Will and Clara so they hit it off on holiday and have been firm friends ever since - we've seen them quite a few times since we came back from Barbados and we always have such a lovely time when they visit. This time we went up to their place in Goodwood and hung out for the day - homemade pizzas in the pizza oven, kids playing in the park and a good 2 hour gossip in the hot tub with a glass of fizz!!
